Panthers Finish Tourney With Gusto!
The Panthers were led by a balanced scoring attack on Sunday morning as they faced the Spartans of Salem, Orange. Sean (16), Adam (13), Beau (12), Shane (12), and the rest of the Panthers fought with all they had to the wire. At the end of the 4th quarter, the score remained knotted at 59. Tenacious defense by both teams was the style in the overtime period and the Panthers emerged victorious when Shane hit two free throws to post a 61-60 win.
The team had lunch at Culver's and relaxed at the Student Union during the afternoon. Unfortunately, sickness set in Shane and he spent most of the afternoon sleeping. At 5:15, the team faced Zion, Decatur, Inidana, for the consolation championship. The Panthers fought hard throughout and received some inspiration when Shane decided to lace them up in the 2nd half. However, the Panthers were spent and Zion took the Consolation Championship by a score of 43-33. Brad led the Panther scoring attack with 10 points.
After the game and the awards, the Panthers and their families headed to Uno's for dinner and some relaxation. We are now back in Chicago and preparing to head home tomorrow.
You can be very proud of YOUR Panthers. They fought hard in every game and they gave everything they had. Personally, I am very proud of the efforts of the team and the support of our parents. Well done!
