LOCAL Championship!

The Lady Panther Basketball Team defeated Salem Lutheran of Orange by a score of 42-18 in the St. Paul’s gym on Thursday, October 25, 2007, to win the Lutheran Orange County Athletic League championship. They did so behind the scoring of 7th Grader Mikaela Truckey (14 points) and 8th Grader Amy Marthaller (8 points Coach Hight attributed the win to the team defense which held Salem to just eight points in the first half and ten in the second. Kaitlyn Lofink and Siara Pinick ran the offense with precision by distributing the ball to Mia Gest and Kelsey Hughes who dominated inside. Courtney Lofink provided ample backup for the guards with her outstanding hustle and defense. Kristen Caskey came off the bench and provide a spark in the middle by grabbing rebounds and blocking shots. Bryn Gornick got in the action with a great steal and rebound.

The Lady Panthers finish the 2007 season with a perfect 12-0 record. Along the way they also won the Salem Invitational Tournament. The girls now qualify to apply for acceptance to the Lutheran Basketball Association of America National Tournament in March. Watch for details of how you can support their efforts.
